about

The Decliners 4th official release from 2015 focuses on darker, more personal themes of loss and less of the political post punk of previous releases as a reaction to the tragic loss of friend and Decliner bass player Joey "Steelhead" Williams.

Experimental in approach, "Let Me Be" finds The Decliners trying out new song influences and instrumentation, from acoustic guitars, strings and brass to melodica and percussion, and the "Tetrazzi" an experimental prototype synthesizer, many of these tracks were jettisoned over the years as the band and engineer / Producer Jim Rogers went down into the abyss of possibility as an alternate experiment to contrast with recording sessions in the past.

A sampler of genres fill the album, of which The Decliners took four years to complete - mainly due to the ongoing presence by invitation of friends from the Portland music community joining in as they collectively searched for the next sound of the band and settled instead on the journey in the making.
